Carol Genengels

Carol Genengels was born in Seattle and raised in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. She enjoyed spending summers at her aunt’s beach house playing in the sand and collecting shells.

Her childhood prayer was that God would someday give her a husband who would take her to church. She met Ted, the answer to her prayer, in her senior year of high school. They recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.

She studied Medical Assisting at Olympic College and worked in the medical/mental health care field before retiring. She and her husband, world travelers, have 3 children and several grandchildren.

Carol served in church and community leadership roles and co-founded A Woman’s Touch Ministry in Silverdale, WA and served as director for fifteen years. Being in the trenches with diverse women gave her compassion to meet them where they are.

Carol authored numerous short stories, poems, devotionals and articles. Her true stories have appeared in several devotionals, including Chicken Soup for the Soul books, God Allows U-Turns books, God’s Rainbow Book (Prayers and Inspiration for Victims of Hurricane Katrina) Bad Hair DaysStories for Spirit Filled BelieversJourneys of Friendship, etc. as well as Woman’s DayReminisce, and various other magazines. Carol & her husband co-founded Grays Harbor’s first NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) affiliate in 2007. In 2011 the county awarded them a Phoenix Award for their tireless work with persons dealing with mental illness. Carol’s article, A Cry for Help, published in The Psychiatric Journal, June of ’06, caught the attention of a psychiatrist in the US legislature. It was used to garner two million dollars towards a mental health bill. Additionally, Carol has testified in the WA state legislature on a bill she and her husband co-sponsored. Carol, active in Toastmasters International, served a term as President of their local affiliate. As an inspirational speaker, Carol has ministered at retreats and conferences. Her greatest joy is seeing women set free to be all that God has created them to be. Carol’s life/favorite scripture is: “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable and always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.” 1 Cor.15:58 NASB
